Description

This stunning coloured cupro-nickel coin features the harlequin duck, whose male and female gracefully parade on Canada's East and West coasts. It is so named because of the male's multicoloured plumage, which is reminiscent of the motley costume of Harlequin, the character from the Italian commedia dell'arte. It is a charming small duck that swims vigorously and whose call sounds like a mouse's squeak.
