2023 Set. Tribute to Elsie Macgill
A brilliant woman with unwavering strength of character, Elizabeth “Elsie” MacGill excelled in aeronautical engineering and advocated for gender equality. Featured twice (in colored and non-colored versions) in this collection of commemorative memorabilia, the 2023 $1 Commemorative Circulation Coin celebrates an exceptional Canadian nicknamed the “Hurricane Queen.” His accomplishments, as well as his exemplary desire to advocate and encourage others, were guided by the firm belief that we can all soar higher.
About the $2, $1, 25¢, 10¢ and 5¢ coins included in this commemorative memorabilia collector's card: To focus its efforts on paying homage to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II (1952-2022) ), the Royal Canadian Mint will not issue 2023 Canadian circulation coins bearing the traditional designs on the reverse and the effigy of the Queen on the obverse. Rather, it offers a collector's edition of annual coins with a limited mintage. These are uncirculated coins which are legal tender, but which are not intended for circulation. The obverse also features a special mark composed of four pearls and a double date, which symbolizes the four effigies of the Queen that adorned Canadian coins as well as the duration of her reign.
This collector's card contains two $1 Tribute to Elsie MacGill coins (one colored, one uncolored).
