2014 $20 Papillon Admiral

Second coin in this popular series; This beautifully engraved and colored 99.99% pure silver coin features the Admiral butterfly, whose Canadian habitat is largely limited to southern Ontario. The colors and spots that adorn this graceful butterfly constitute an important adaptation aimed at its protection. Indeed, the admiral butterfly has evolved to imitate a venomous butterfly, the Aristolochia butterfly.
THE limenitis arthemis astyanax closely resembles its close relative the white admiral, a very common butterfly. The upper part of the wing sports a vibrant shade of bluish-purple and is highlighted by several rows of blue-white lines. The upper hind wing is decorated with lovely squares with blue-green reflections. When their ranges overlap, the admiral also wears the white bands that characterize the white admiral. The admiral butterfly is most often found near wooded areas, on sunny gravel roads, and in clearings.
An ideal and precious gift to offer to nature enthusiasts and art lovers.
