2009 $20 475th Jacques Cartier

During his travels, Jacques Cartier interacted with the Micmacs, the Stadaconians and the Iroquois. They were captivated by the knives, beads, combs and any iron object that the explorers bartered for. The Amerindians must have been marked by the size and modest luxury of the floating fortresses aboard which Jacques Cartier invited them. It was on the return of his journey in 1534 that the explorers took the first Iroquois men across to France in order to introduce them to its wonders.
